They Squatted!!!!! How Long Now???

They freeze (hold really still), hunker down and usually spread their wings, On my Brahma, the bending area of the wings protruded when she did the 'squat' for me.

Combs getting redder, egg song practice, squatting, and practing nesting behavior like moving the bedding around and getting comfortable are all signs of a soon to lay pullet (but these are NEVER guarenteed! lol)

Ahh... Ok. Yet another thing to watch for. lol But that's okay with me. The more I know, the better.

My rooster will stand up really tall and flap his wings really hard. Is he stretching or showing off? Or does it mean something else?

I think just streaching, I have a few pullets who do that in the morning, sorta like streaching their legs

He does it many times throughout the day. I've learned his protective/aggressive stance. He charges right at you. But we just charge back at him or pick him up to show him who's boss.

Forgive me, but what does a "squat" look like? I'm very new to chickening

They squat low to the ground, spread their wings slightly, raise up their tail, sometimes they stomp with their feet. Then, after you pet them a bit, they shake themselves and smoke a cigarette. LOL!!

Thank You Morgan that was very helful I have also been wondering what it looks like when they squat
