They're hatching! Anyone else hatching?

Yeah I'm sure it would be a lot better if they had a mama. These are my first chickens though so mine can't have a mama.

I bet it's beautiful to see mama and baby pecking away at the yard.

Congratulations storminthenight! 50% is awesome for not expecting any! I hope those chicks get stronger for you so they can have a chicken mama too.

are you hatching shipped eggs? This is my second hatch and I got 4 out of 13 Black Copper Marans and 3 out of 12 blue cochin bantams and 0 out of four white silkies.

Very dissapointing.. Lots not fertile, three silkie eggs arrived broken, one marans with brains outside of head, some quit late in the game and one looked fine but never pipped (egg yolk absorbed) I have two Genesis 1588's and they worked perfectly. Between the cost and the heartache, I will have to think hard before I try hatch number three. I wonder, with shipped egg hatches being reported as terrible across the forum, why we all order more shipped eggs. wonder if there are any standard practices that would insure safer shipping and a better hatch. I have 7 split/lavender Orp eggs due to hatch Monday. They got lost in the mail and took 3 extra days to get to me so I bought a second Genesis so I could hatch the split.

I am about to move my 7 little fuzzies to their brooder box. Can't wait to hold them and love on them.

Good luck to all of you still hatching. May all your eggs be fluffy chicks by days end.

yours will probably be more friendly too.

I had three more chicks in the bator this morning, they were still wet and I put one with each hen, they went under them straight away.
And the four chicks left with me were doing really good this morning, so . . . I have no more chicky's, there all split between the three momma's

.

I had my first broody hen hatch 4 chicks about a month ago, and it is really neat to watch, plus I actually got to see her attack a snake to protect her babies, so I figured these news chicks would be safe with the hens.

Congrats everyone else that have new additions

No mine weren't shipped. I was so lucky to find someone with chickens that lives about a few miles away from where I live. I've heard shipped eggs are a real pain in the butt. I'm sorry none of your silkies hatched!

Awww! I'm sorry your hatch ratio was low too. At least you have some fuzzy butts right? I almost had to get shipped eggs because my source's chickens weren't laying but at the last minute they layed just enough eggs for me.

Yes, good luck to everyone still hatching!!!

Aww storminthenight I bet it would be so cute to see the mama protecting them. And I'm trying to get mine really friendly and tame so they'll love humans. Hehe.
Congrats for having no chicks left! That's awesome they get to have a chicken mama.

My dad was talking about raising pheasants next year. I was thinking if my chicks were old enough in the summer they could hatch some pheasant eggs for me. If they go broody. I don't know how old they have to be. That would be awesome though! Or would the pheasants run away right away? I don't know how that works. Wild birds with pet birds..

Yeah, shipped eggs are a real pain!! I do have 7 of the cutest chicks playing in their brooder box next to me. Those little bantams are unbelievable. They are so tiny and holding their own with the marans. I may have to separate them if the big guys bully them.

I have never seen anything soooo cute!

I still have 7 split black/lavender Orp eggs in one of the incubators that are due to hatch Tuesday.
