Thin, diarrhea, tired, out of ideas...please help

Just in case, wanted to throw this out there... Could it be vent gleet? I do understand at her age a laying issue or cancer may be more likely, but wonder if treating for vent gleet is worth a try.

IMO, vent gleet would not cause her to stop eating. Any time I've ever seen it (only once) the bird was very functional, until other issues caused him to become ill.

Vent gleet is a yeast infection of the digestive tract. the thrush can show up as merely a vent issue, or it can affect the crop as well.

Okay thanks for clearing that up. I am not thinking that it is that but it was still a good suggestion. Doesn't hurt to think of all the options especially if it could be something treatable.

Having a friend do the euthanizing for you is a very good option.

I put my beloved avatar roo (Jack) down last weekend. I had asked my husband to do it for me, b/c Jack has been with me for 4 years, and obviously was a favorite. But, in the end, I chose to do it myself, while having hubby stand by to help if needed, simply b/c I would rather do it myself than stand by and watch someone else do it, and perhaps not do it swiftly. Hubby was good support and helped me simply by being there, and providing a second set of hands.

Yes I agree I would do it myself if I could but don't have any experience with it and it would probably not be done swift or correctly. I understand what you mean about wanting to do it yourself though.
