well just a few as others posted ,,,,Boy I remember it well from way back in the 60’S

here a few I remember too

THAT’S WHEN A PENNY CANDY COST A CENT , when you got up at dawn and help ur pa milk the cows and goats and feed them plus the chickens , when you only had one TV and one land Line phone - a Pick up Truck and one car – when family cooks out where like 20 plus ‘
And all holidays where a full house with family and friends—
As far as music well back in them days I was raise with country music , Pasty Cline – Gorge Jones- Hank Williams – Buck Owens – Charlie Pride – Conway Twitty just to say a few

When there where still Drive In’s and also drive in car hop dinners slim and few - - a hot dog stand at every corner or street

Jack and Harry’s – Woolworth – Hardy’s the burger join, before Mc Donald or Burger King

Narragansett Beer & Blue Ribbon Beer – where the top of the list before Bud Wiser or Miller and a 7&7 – or Rum & coke was the main drink at most bars and night clubs

when our grandfather and fathers roll there own cigarettes and gramps main his own wine and beer too.
and grandma jarred ever thing from the garden and farm

When we got snow storms back in the 60’s and early 70’s here in the New England Area we got 2’ to 3’ at a storm and had to shove out our cars by hand , also schools where close for a few days during the snowy winter storms

I'm sure there more

I am SO loving this thread.... brings back lots of memories! a friend of mine has a dog named Snuffy, and from the first time I saw him I automatically started calling him "Snuffalupagus" from HR PufnStuf ( my little sister used to love that show). Remember Dick Dastardly and Muttley? (from the perils of Penelope Pitstop -- a road race cartoon). My bro. was an official member of the Dick Dastardly fan club.

Teaberry, Clove, and Blackjack gum (sometimes one can still find these oldies but goodies!) ... Used to love to watch Lost in Space (that Dr. Smith was such a stinker!) and The Fugitive w/ David Janssen. Remember those big yeast rolls in school that were as big as a softball? oh, man, those were the BEST! I remember watching the Watergate Investigations on TV in my high school Civics class. (lawd, I AM old as dirt!!!

) I remember seeing Corrie Ten Boom in live interviews. all these are neat, but one really weird thing that makes me nostalgic is the smell of burning motor oil. My dad had an old green Dodge pickup that badly needed an overhaul and people would pass us choking & coughing to get out of the smoke. Just a few years ago, my older brother & I were talking about things like this and he admitted that he too gets nostalgic at the smell of burning motor oil!

I remember going on the 6 or 7 hr. drive to Grandma's with us kids (the 2 littlest ones up from w/ Mom & Dad) in the back of the truck w/ a quilt to stay warm, watching the stars. When we got near Atkins, AR there was a big, BIG billboard on the side of the mountain with a red razorback hog on it, and the sign said, "Go Hogs Go" . We knew when we saw that, we were almost there. ... ah, gotta love the good memories and let the bad ones stay stuffed in the back of the file where they belong.

Hershey bars for a nickle

Cokes in a bottle for a dime

Being able to let the kids out in your neighborhood without being afraid that someone was going to snatch them up

Knowing the names of everybody on your street and the next 3 streets in both directions (my folks still live in the same house I grew up in and still have the same phone number for the last 48years!! I haven't had the same one for 48months!) Lots of the kids I grew up with have moved back and are raising their kids there.

Stingray bikes

Saturday afternoon at the movies for a $1 Popcorn, candy bar and a coke for a dollar more!

Going to school with the same kids all the way from Kindergarten to the 8th grade.

Door to door tricker treating around the neighborhood. You were grown up when you could go by yourself!

Esso Stations

Station Wagons

When you would freak if you saw a man and a woman in bed on TV

When you saw more skin on TV than you do when you are in the shower!! (hey, I'm not a prude, but cover up people!! Girls give them something to wonder about, don't throw it all out there on the table for them!!)

When Movies didn't have all the blood and gore. (people wonder why I haven't been to the movies since the '70's!)
