Things you remember but that most young folks never heard of. Pre 1980

Convience stores were not even thought of. It was the corner store which was a small version of a supermarket with it's own butcher in the back.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge was 2 lanes (we got stuck on it for 7 hours because of an accident one summer)

I-95 didn't exist

No building in Philly was taller than Billy Penn's hat!

The Philly Zoo was just brick and bar cages

The day Disney World opened (I was there the 2nd day because they closed the gates at noon on the first day)

When the Empire State Building was the tallest building in the USA.

You went to a druggest (sp?) to get your medication. He actually mixed up the medications there while you waited at the counter having a "soda"

Everybody knew everybody in town so you behaved because your parents would find out if you didn't!! and you would get your butt busted for shaming you parents with your behavior.

You called anyone over the age of 18 Mr.,Sir, Miss or Ma'am

If you got in trouble at school, your parents were going to side with the teacher no matter what.
 
Records that you would cut out of the back of cereal boxes and one time there were 45 records given away in cereal.

Watching President Ford fall down his latest set of steps or knocking another person senseless with a bad golf shot. hehehe
 
Of course there are awful memories - like the day JFK was shot. I was in the second grade, sick, and in Mother Superior's office, waiting for my mom to come get me. The nuns were all crying, and so was Mom when she came in. Sad day.

Yes I remember those yellow and black signs with broken arrow for bomb shelter all over public places including schools!

If you had an underground class room or basement, those abs (sp) insulations covered up all the heating ducts and later it was removed because it causes lung cancer!

I remember my teachers wearing those one piece polo shirt dresses with an alligator logo on it. Doubt if those polo dresses will come back today.

Grey haired women dying their hair black but ended up blue or purplish.

"Raccoon" eye make ups.....eyeliners UGH! It supposed to make your eyes more bigger.

The news President Reagan was shot and lived to tell the tale.

Pope John Paul being shot at too and the Popemobile had to have security glass from then on.

Hated those Yugo cars, it is a death trap.

All the vinyl and gold chains on Arabian horse halters, the more skimpier the halter is, the better the horse looks in the show ring.

The western wears was loaded with concho designs, silvers and loud colors along with busy patterns of shirts (particularly the Western Pleasure classes). Aqua and teal was the popular colors along with red for chaps and matching tack.

English wears didn't change that much except for flynets for horse's ears.

The Ole Man,Peppy San Bar, Three Bars, Doc Bar, *Aladdinn, Ansata were popular horses. Impressive QH horses and descendents went downhill after the disease was found in only that line. Trail riding was the most popular equine events in the US.
 
I loved Clove and Blackjack gum. Wasn't there a Teaberry Shuffle dance that they did on the commercials, too? I swear I remember doing that, goofing around.
