You are too sensitive - a tiny bit of mold on the surface won't even be noticeable!

Don’t worry. Nobody ever got botulism from a bit of mold on bread.
I am not advocating eating moldy bagels. And actually I never have. But I do know that if the mold hasn’t taken over the whole slice you can just cut the moldy bit off a slice of bread and no harm will come to you and it only tastes bad when it really gets thoroughly moldy.

I would have finished eating it after cutting off the mold.
Never yet gotten sick from moldy food. I’d rather risk it than waste something I paid for.

Hmm that’s a good point but tbf there was only one bagel left in the bag and they were quite old cause I haven’t been eating as many lately so wasn’t like I tossed a whole bag of brand new ones but I do see your point. I probably could or even should have cut the mold off but at that point I was so grossed out and startled by it that I didn’t think of that. Not to mention I was about to hurl lol
