This is a common problem with a certain keyboard. It is due to a build up of static electricity inside the case. Just opening up the case can temporarily disperse the static electricity. Others have found that a good jolt onto the desk can also dissipate the static electricity but one must be careful because that is also a way to really break the keyboard.

I use percussive maintenance on my electronics at times. As a IT guy for my family, sometimes it works.

If this is a standard keyboard with nothing fancy, throw it in the sink, rinse it out really well, maybe use a scrub brush to really get the crumbs and dust out then let it dry completely (up to three days to really dry). I've even known tech to throw them in the dishwasher.
