Things you wish you could say

I wish I could say that I felt safe and comfortable discussing religion or politics somewhere, anywhere. That people could share ideas without rancor. My ideas might be wrong, or someone else's might be better. But if we can't discuss them reasonably and with civility, how would I ever know?

That I didn't come home today and find just shy of 100, yes 100 dead birds.

Temperature? Predators? Illness?

We've lost the ability to communicate. Discussing things does not have to lead to an argument. We have to learn to have a disagreement civilly again.

Dogs I recon.
Neighbor seen two unknown dogs just behind my barn on the next property. Two good size holes torn into my big pen with my best keepers and lots of extra pullets.
Just a ton of dead birds staked in two piles inside the pen and some scattered around dead outside of it.

What sucks is that I've been shifting birds around getting ready for winter and was seeing some really good ones so those were all going into that pen because it's by far my biggest.
I had an awesome blue silver crele cockerel that I was really liking. He was the first one I saw when I walked in.
But at least now I'll have an excuse to hatch too many next year.

It really sucks losing any, let alone the ones you really like and want to breed. Why it's always the good ones is beyond me. I feel your pain. But yes, you have a great excuse to hatch as many as you can next year.
