Football is a manifestation of frustrated primitive violence, evidenced in part by the screaming announcers who can't just take a breath and chill out...
The social team aspect cues the primitive part of the mind, causing viewers to feel it's a sane & reasonable exercise, when really it's just an excessively dramatic argument over the appropriate location of a ball.

I wish I could say this to social beings in real life, however I do not wish to go down in a blaze of balls demonstrating said primitive teamwork.

If I wanted violence I would watch martial arts, Forged In Fire blade making & testing, or most impressively of all - my feline companions having their daily rehearsal of Kung Fu Fighting.
