Things you wish you could say

My mother worked at a restaurant summers while she was in school, way back in the 50s. She had horror stories even then! There were stories about the customer who sent the rare steak back, annoying the chef (so he burned it), stories about food falling on the floor and getting scooped right back up.

But it balanced with some of the nice customer stories, like the guy who appreciated having someone talk to him, so he left a tip that was more than the cost of his food.

It can.
But it is also what you make of it. Quit your beachin', and get to livin'.

Like Ozzy says, "All aboard!"
I remember reading an article on happiness. People who are grateful for the things they have are happier in general. That makes sense. It can be a hard shift between seeing what you don't have to seeing what you do, but it's worth it.

Don't ever become a pessimist... a pessimist is correct oftener than an optimist, but an optimist has more fun, and neither can stop the march of events.

Robert A. Heinlein

We like to have fun.
on a beach...
An optimist is frequently let down by his expectations. A pessimist can often be met with pleasant surprises when the outcomes exceed his expectations.
