Things you wish you could say

Here's my rant for the day...

I want to deposit some money in my HSA account. So I called the help line. First they tell me I can get a medic alert for free! And the "person" sounds like a person because the recording has all the ums, ahs, that happen in conversational speech. Press 1 to go on and sign up, or press #. I press #, thinking I'll get the person I need to speak with.

And instead, I get another pitch. At the end of that, press 1 or #. I tried # once more. Another pitch. I hung up and called back. I didn't say a word, and it was exactly the same thing.

Sally are you sure you dialed the correct phone number? I did that once by accident, went to call my bank, was off by a digit, my old eyes misread one and I got a telemarketing scum recording like you sounded like you did instead of my bank. They do this on purpose, popular numbers of companies,. they buy up the 'mistake dials, and one offs' and put sales pitches on them. Worse case you buy garbage from them, either way sadly, they GOT your number and know it's a live person now and you probably will find yourself getting telemarketing calls now for the next few weeks or so.

At first I was like, ok now WHY is navy federal pitching me this garbage, Im going to really lay into them when I get a person, then it kept going on and on and I looked at the number and seen I misdialed. Hung up and dialed the right number next time ..

Yeah, I thought that too. But I dialed it 3x. It is possible I misdialed 3x, as I have misdialed twice in a row before.

I miss the days of good customer service too. Where I worked, we had AWESOME customer service. Once upon a time, anyway. I don't know what it's like now.

I work as a school psychologist and sometimes I just wish parents would take a step back and let their children grow. It's okay for your child to fail. Failure is how we learn. If you swoop in every time there is a whiff of consequences, your child is not going to be functional in the real world.
That has become painfully obvious over the past decade or so.
