Things you wish you could say

No NO NO!!! This is NOT the time to bust a filling! There is an emergency dentist here but I really don't want to go that route. Crap, dammit!! should I take care of it before the whole tooth gets gone or try to nurse it until after Christmas?

I don't know what's worse, having a messed up filling or the fact that you can't help yourself and keep running your tongue over it until you tear your tongue up too :(

I wonder what puree'd ham and turkey taste like :p

Most pharmacies have an emergency/temporary home filling stuff. toothpaste aisle.

When kids have braces, the orthodontist usually gives them a little packet of food-safe wax to put over any rough or sharp spots. I've see actual beeswax, and some other kind as well, but I'm sure it is always a kind that is safe if swallowed. It usually doesn't stay on very long or very well, but it can help give the tongue a break from rubbing the edge.

Maybe something similar would work for you, until you are able to go to the dentist.

Now that sounds like another good idea, put a blob of beeswax over the entire thing until I do get to the dentist. If you swallow that, no big deal, it comes right out with minimal damage along the way. Thank you for that idea! Now to find a beehive to stick my snoot into! I do have a jar of honey a friend gave me from his apiary with a big chunk of comb in it, I may need to fish that out and give it a chew.

Also, part of my frustration is, this is not the first time this molar been worked on, I already know what they have in mind. Crown / Root Canal, etc etc. Not a process I want to be starting now. Even if they just put a cork over it, how close am I to the parts that really cause pain? Right now it's not bothering me except for the sharp, but I know that won't last long. Maybe I just need to hit the egg nog extra hard in a few days and pain be damned hehe.

Well, a bit of wax seems to work, it felt odd at first but now that its at the temp of my mouth and kind of smoothed out and squishy with spit, i pretty much don't really even notice it, except my tongue is not scraping on the sharp piece of broken filling. I just hope it stays around a bit and does not slowly dissolve or whatever. we shall see
