There's a time and a place. There's no lack of places to "start conversations" it doesn't have to be done somewhere people would prefer it is not.
I personally know a lot of artists on here and guarantee they'll talk your ear off about art, if you let them.

One small piece of advice. It is not wise to argue with staff or ignore their advice. We do have a lot of grumpy old people here who will just report you for breaking rules or etiquette violations. We also have several that will publicly call you out. It's awesome that you want to be here and learn, and we all encourage that. Just don't annoy the neighbors in the process. No one likes having the cops called.
