The plow guy didn't show up AFTER we'd finished clearing the driveway (I never heard back from him and assumed he wasn't coming). Though it was pretty funny to watch him clear 2 inches of powder snow with this massive piece of machinery.

One last thing about the toilet flapper thingie, since this happened to me.
A bit of grit or something had gotten under the rim. I wiped around the underside of the rim, and that was that. No replacing anything.

I wish I could say (to keep to the thread topic) that I knew that was the problem in this case.

Wish: I'm not scheduled to show up for jury duty Wednesday, and there's a good chance I still won't be able to make it out to the highway on our 2.5 miles of icy gravel roads by then. (Will they put out a warrant for my arrest if I can't make it?)

Thank you all! That appears to be the problem. When I pressed on the seal, the trickle stopped.

I’m not sure about replacing it since this is a dorm room and I don’t want to mess things up by accident. How do you stop the water while you’re replacing it??

For now I’ve left the lid off so I can adjust it manually.

Since you're in a dorm, let the dorm manager know. They'll turn the water off to your toilet (There's usually a little knob to turn below the tank behind the toilet) and should fix it for you.

If you haven't already rescheduled, call the court and ask them if you can. Explain that your roads are not passable and you're worried you may not be able to appear for service. See what they say, but at least at that point you have documented that you made the effort.

Call them and tell them you can't make it. They are usually surprisingly accommodating
