Things your hometown is famous for . . . .

I am from Texarkana Tx and Texarkana Ar. We are a twin city. One side of town is a dry county and the other one is a wet county.(thats booze). We are famous for our Post office right on the state line. There is a photo opp that you can pose with half your body in Ar and the other in TX. We also had a killer in the 50's (i think) that killed a bunch of people. He was never found. A movie was made about him. The town that dreaded sundown.

Well, I live just outside the city of Rochester, but nothing big that I know of happened here in Walworth. We do live in a large apple orchard area and Mott's has a plant here. So does Helluva Good cheese.
In the city though Probably the most famous is this is the home of George Eastman and he of course created Kodak which is still here today, though not as big as it used to be.

I don't know how I missed this thread before, it's really interesting to learn about what all these towns are famous/infamous for. Now it's my turn.

I'm originally from San Jose, CA. The heart of Silicon Valley and suburban sprawl. It wasn't like that when I grew up there, though...we still had tons of orchards and it was a great place to grow up. It's known for being the first capital of California. Another well-known San Jose site is the Winchester Mystery House, the home of the eccentric widow of Sam Winchester of Winchester rifle fame. Legend has it that she continously built onto her home to provide housing for the spirits of all the people her husband's rifle killed. I've toured it, it's pretty cool.

Notable San Joseans include:
Chuck Berry
Peggy Fleming
Ernie Reyes, Jr.
Nikki Sixx
Steve Wozniak

Oh, and my brother swam against Olympic gold medalist Mark Spitz when they were in high school. Spitz beat the trunks off of him, though!
