My hometown is Gainesville, Georgia. It is most famous for being the Poultry Capital of the World. In the 1930's, during the depression, a man by the name of J.D. Jewell invented the incubation process for hatching eggs. Needless to say, this sparked the poultry industry in the area that remains strong today. Farmers known as growers, grow out the baby chicks in poultry houses until they reach the age and size for commercial slaughtering. Farmers also maintain hen houses for commercial egg production. There are many poultry farmers in the North Georgia area, as well as a host of hatcheries and slaughter houses. There is a complete process and livelyhood in this town dealing with the "chicken".

I live in white hall. not sure what we are famous for. depends which end you look at, we have the rich kids at one end, city kids in a small part and the rednecks/hicks in another end. so yea. i dont know what we are legendaery for. lol
 
Douglas,Wyoming,wasn't born here but have lived here for around 20 years. Listed in Norman Cramptons book as "One of the top 100 best towns to live in." Birth place of the jackalope,teapot dome,national oil reserve,uranium,oil and coal,now methane gas.Hog Ranch,most notorious and rowdy in the state. Hellof a hunt(deserving and handicapped children are given guides and special help to hunt big game).

our beautiful azaleas (the Azalea Trail)
being the location where the phrase, "darn the torpedos! Full steam ahead!" was said
and my personal favorite, the home of the original Mardi Gras!!!

I am from the thriving metropolis of South Boston Virginia, famous for the South Boston Speedway, The Burton Brothers (Ward and Jeff) and more importantly for Ziggy's Pizza.

Aside from that, we got nothing.
 
My county is famous for our Autumn Leaf Festival. Last two years I've marched in the parade in my schools marching band. Just thinking about it makes me sore
