This plan has been coming together for several months.I have been seraching for a free,older mare me and my niece can ride.Got lots of calls about all kinds of horses.6 weeks ago a fellow calls with a offer of a 24 year old TWH.Turns out hes only 3 miles from me and the mare is closer than that,about a mile and a half.My husband and I have went and rode her a couple times.She is wonderful.You would never think she is 24.She looks and acts much younger.I waited awhile so we could make sure she is the one and we decided she is.I am going in about an hour and ride her home.Her owner thinks thats fine and even offered to ride her home for me if I wasn't sure about it.I am alittle nervous but I'm not scared.I am excited.
My niece doesn't know about her and I hope to surprise her early in the morning.So if you have time...think happy,safe trip home for me and my new girl.I'll post pictures later on this afternoon.Thanks and Merry Christmas.
We made it home with little trouble.She was some what nervous and not wanting to leave her pasture mate.She went right on with me and I could tell she was alittle worried about her new rider,too.I put her in the lot with my shetland pony,Crazy Horse.Yes,he earned that name but he's not really crazy, just a pony.Her name is Big Mama and she sure is big.She is registered but they couldn't find the papers.She had belonged to this fellows' granddad and we knew him before he passed away several years ago.The granddad always liked and tried to buy our now deceased TWH mare Trixie.He always had some of the best TWHs around.Its kinda strange that he and us liked the same kind of horses and we lost ours and his lost him and now we get the chance to share something again.I'm looking forward to getting her and me used into riding again.She needs to go slow and I want to go slow so maybe its going be good for us both.
