Since you can't get the vitamin solution tonight, you might try feeding some finely mashed hardboiled egg yolk, perhaps mixed in with the medicated chick starter.

She is still here this morning and a little more alert. But she isn't eating. She has been drinking a lot. I'm thinking maybe an impacted crop? It feels hard to me. When I massaged it a little, she vomited clear fluid? I think probably the water that she has been drinking. She is pooping but it is mostly white with clear liquid. Probably from not eating. Is there anything I can do to soften what is in the crop?

Is the crop hard? Mine have had impacted crops, but pooped and ate normal. I give olive oil for impacted crops. Watery poo is a sign of not feeling well or drinking too much water. I have a chick with excessive thirst and has watery poops.

I hope the little one chirps up today. Vitamins work wonders. If you can get some today, I'm sure it would help. Good luck.

What is the best way to give olive oil? I can probably use a dropper but don't want to give too much. I do have Vita-drops for my daughter's pet rat. Would tat be ok to add to the water?

I compared her crop to the other chicks and it is pretty big and hard. I put a couple of drops of olive oil on her beak and she did drink it. How much olive oil should I give to her? She is drinking a lot of water. Not eating anything but probably can't fit anything else in there. If anyone thinks that the mouse/rat/hamster vitamin drops wouldn't hurt her, I could add some to her water.

I don't know what is in rodent vitamins, so if I were you, I'd play it safe and go get the human infant vitamins this morning (get the version without iron). Also, give her as much olive oil as she'll accept and drink on her own...the oil will help to soften and lubricate any possible impaction in the crop. But, don't *force* anything, including oil, in a bird's throat, as they can aspirate and die. Continued massage of the crop helps, too, but make sure you're doing it gently and from the bottom upwards...also DO NOT tip her upside down as some posts (in other threads) have suggested in treating impacted crop. That is a sure-fire way to kill your chick.

I will get the human vitamins for her this morning. She drank several drops of olive oil from me just putting drops on her beak. And she just had a big poop that had solids in it so hopefully things are starting to move through.

Have you noticed any strange poops? Are any other of your flock showing signs?

"Fluffed up" and "lethargic" make me think it could be Coccidiosis. Please see this video (it is educational but may be difficult to watch) and see if your chicken has the symptoms this one displays. If she does, please treat with Corid or Sumlet. Corid is higher doses of the same Amprolium found in medicated feeds and is gentler on the bird's system, but Sumlet treats more strains. If your chick has these symptoms while on medicated feed, I would recommend the Sumlet. You should be able to get either at the feed store.
