Think it's worth it? Down black walnut tree

I am in the log/lumber business and it has great value if you know who to market it to. There is a place in Oregon called Goby Hardwoods that could steer you in the right direction.

It all depends on the number of knots and quality of the wood.If it is folked anywhere it won't be worth much either. If it's a straight piece and no knots it could be worth a couple grand on up.When i first bought the farm there was a huge black walnut at the back of the property,80ft to the first branch and over 100ft tall,i was paid $12,000 for that tree

CL would worry me

I would worry that they would leave more of a mess than they cleaned.

Find out what it might be worth, and maybe they would do some type of trade - lumber for a coop - or to build extra shade - or a new baby run - I could go on

- for the tree.

No worries, no CL around here.

I know it's valuable, but DH is still reluctant. The last time any timber was cut off this farm was probably 20 years ago and they did leave a mess behind; which is why he is reluctant. Plus, we both hate the scars on the earth left behind, but we're talking one tree that is already down. Still, this tree is not 5 ft. off the road and not all that hard to access so maybe...

Thanks all.
