Lately I’ve been thinking about building a new loft and a few more enclosures for the ducks.

My plan is that the loft will be raised off the ground probably as much as my duck enclosure is. It will have a mesh floor, and three loft sections that are all dedicated to different breeds (e.g. fantails, Serbian highflyers and Birmingham rollers). In each section their will be 3 or 5 (quite a difference) of nestboxes that will have cat litter boxes filled with straw or other things on them, when I’m not breeding any birds the nestboxes will have the litter box removed.

The loft will be very air circulated so pigeon dust doesn’t build up. A problem may be on wet days as I don’t want the birds getting too sick so something like a tarp could be hung up onto the mesh areas.

That’s all I have thought about so far.
