@Weeg i looked at the links you posted.  The first is in australia, but the 2nd is in the u.s.  I believe in california.  Thats a long way from maine (or texas), but may be a start.
I posted the video below on another thread about rescued ex-battery hens.  The hellish conditions ex-battery hens live in has haunted me for years.  I currently have 260 layer hens of many breeds and colors, and they live ou safe, healthy care-free lives.  But if i could find some ex-bat hens to adopt, i would in a heartbeat.  Just be aware of their special needs during their first few months.  Good luck to you; i hope you go for it!
