Thinking of moving, but WHERE???

Based on your specifications, you might consider northern KY or central/southern Indiana. I'm not sure what our property value is...maybe $225 thousand??? Our taxes aren't the cheapest; think we paid around $1200 this past year; but there's worse out there. There is access to reasonable acreage and home costs, decent sized cities/towns (such as Louisville, Lexington, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis) nearby, rivers and lakes (no oceans...lol), and folks seem pretty friendly. Politically there's a definite mix...a little above the Bible Belt area, so there are Dems and Repubs. Employment opportunities are decent. Have fun looking around. That would be cool to be able to "start over" somewhere new!

You have to keep in mind that the cost of living is important. Chances are that if your home was in a suburb of Cleveland Ohio, it would be worth/sell for much less, and hubby's $90K/year would be more like $40K. Everything is relative. We have been looking to get out of Ohio and when we see how much house/land we could get in TX, WV & KY for what we would consider very inexpensive, we start drooling too.

Yeah. I grew up in WV. My brothers, my DH and I all talk about how it would be a great place to retire to. Beautiful scenery and cheap land...but scarce pickings for employment in most areas. But northern KY (thinking Louisville/Lexington/outside Cincinn.) does have jobs to offer. Don't know about TX.

N FL! Property is about 5,000 an acre no state income tax, no property tax. We're 3/4 surrounded by beach

and here in the N FL area we have gorgeous springs and rivers all over.
