~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

MY GOODNESS! im so darn mad!
somad.gif

I came down to the coop this morning to find the lid lifted up. thankfully all 9 chickens were still in the coop.....but STILL. that meant there was SOMEONE WE DONT KNOW ON OUR PROPERTY MESSING WITH MY BIRDS! my mom claimed they were just looking at them, but that's what a coop is for right? keep the chickens in and the people out! they should've been messing with MY birds in the first place....I don't care who they are!

anymore.. when it comes to people messing around my birds... I shoot first (yeah I'm also a grumpy ol fart.. lol).. but after having a bunch of birds stolen last summer (all of my peafowl).. I don't bother with the "they were just looking" line...

that always bugs the crap out of me.. it's fine to let their little monsters run rampant.. but heaven forbid you let your dogs do the same...

I'll stick with animals.. at least I can trust them to act like animals... which .. most of the time.. is better behaved than most people!
yeah i hate that i mean that's one of the reasons i'm going throgh this hatch is because almost all of my grandma's chickens got killed by her neighbors dogs

i mean she was going to out right give me some pullets and now i have to rip my hair out trying to hatch some or risk getting a sick few from the mail or pay through the nose for some from the feed store.

they are chicks for pete sakes they get them by the hundreds they should be no 6-12 bucks a chick. That's just greed plain and simple

These are the same little monsters who covered my puppy in ketchup & tried to drown her in their pool...but they hadn't been out of the house all day. Pretty funny when I found the ketchup bottle between their garage & my coop & my pup's collar beside their pool. The cops didn't buy mom's story any more than I did & had children's services over there the next day.

your nice

i would have just shot that hawk

i would suggest that you get a gate lock or two for your coops. we had that problem once but they weren't JUST looking they outright took our birds.
I would've too if I had time to run back to the house.....LOL

I literally had to padlock my gates & nest box doors on all of my coops when I was in town. Neighbor kids were constantly letting my birds out when I wasn't home because their Momma was to busy getting high to keep track of the little monsters.
yep....ive always had the doors locked along with the nest box doors. I just didn't have any on the coop that was opened because its newly built.

my big coop HAD locks on the nest box flaps until my neighbor had a pig pickin and a father came over with his daughter, went to lift up the nest box coop flap, and the lock busted off of the dor breaking it. then he reached in, took the key, unlocked the run and let his girl in. WOOP DEE DOO.

EXACTLY!

(this was the coop when I came down. as you could see birds were up in the coop area as well as the run)
can anyone tell me how I can put a lock on this?

Well first you need to frame the in side of the flaps with ply wood and some strong ties. the lock won't do any good if they have no suport and rip out of the wood on the first tug. the best locks that i use are the 3 inch swivel padlocks with shcool locker locks that way i don't have a key to lose.

we went to TSC to buy a coop for my broody instead of having my dad make it. took him 3 months to build the coop in that picture.
well find something out!

yeah luckly the people in my neighborhood know better then to mess with any animal on my property. Because i am not scared to beat other people's kids or at least yell at them. It's werid how no one feels to need to correct their children anymore half the stuff i see kid pulling in moive theathers or gorcery stores would have gotten me beat with in a half inch of my life wehn i was a kid.

I know right? But worry not it only sounds hard it's very easy to do with a few powertools i made my coop myself in 2weeks the hardest part was just getting all the wire togather
