~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

So I just lightly candled the 4 Ancona eggs that I set Sunday and 3 have big pretty spiders. But 1 has a tiny red ring like it's a day or two behind. They are in an egg carton that gets tilted from side to side 3-5 times a day. I've also been moving the eggs around the bator so it hasn't been any cooler.
Any ideas?

I don't know why it happens. THe only point I wish to relate is don't throw it out. Recently I had a buckeye egg gifted to me, and it developed a blood ring. I was truley saddeded and just left the egg n the incubator and rolledit with all the others. THen like clock work it hatched with the others!!! I do not remove blood ring eggs any more. LEsson learned. Hopefully all will be well wit your slow one.

I don't really know what a blood ring looks like do I leave eggs until I'm sure they are clear. Although this time I may have to be a bit stricter. Since my bait will be stuffed to the brim by Saturday.

I'm having the same problem this go round. I have 1 more doz turkey eggs to set and 2 dox olive eggers then a few dozen eggsarriving the end of the week.

What ever you decide will be fine.

Yeah I have a still air LG with no tuners. There are 10 Polish eggs set for the Easter HAL then the 4 Ancona's then 25 more Ancona's and some unknown amount and type of eggs coming tomorrow. Well the types are known bantam duck goose and chicken. I just don't know how many if each except at least one goose and 6 chickens

Howdy all! I will try to join in.

No turkeys though.

Only chickens, and I can't get them all in on the same day. I have some that started today, some will start tomorrow, and after that two more sets.

Welcome, Alaskan!  You will fit in quite well here!  We love to laugh and have fun and keep up some kind of foolishness most of the time.  I am sorry to  hear about your eggs and hope that you get a decent hatch from the rest.  By the way, what kind of straight jacket would you prefer?

Something warm, so I guess I need a quilted one.

HOWEVER, it must have a heat-proof straw so I can still access the coffee.

How about a little gardening conversation?? MOst of the US is finally free of snow-- or almost. We have an erant pile here and there mostly in the cold shadows. BUt . . . . .

THe soil is dry enough to be worked. The kids jumped in and dug the pea trenches. After showing them how to plant 2 10 foot rows, I handed them 2 more packets and gave instructions on where to plant them. Now I know it wan't go like clock work-- they are 10 and 12 afterall-- but I like to show them that I beleive in their abilities. When I checked in they handed me packets still half full!!! Sent them back to empty the pkgs-- just hope they remembered which variety when where!! lol

Mammoth Melting Sugar--4 1/2" edible flat pods on 4 foot vines
Snowbird--3 " edible pods who knows how tall ( bought in honor of SNowbird)
Sugar Snap--eaten whole or shelled, which means I wont waste time shelling

THen went and bought radishes and kale.

And praying birds keep out!!! lol

ANyone else planting to keep their mind off the eggs??

Ready to plant peas and snap peas, any day now. Hopefully tomorrow or Sat.

Just because.
wow....that was....uh....... Kind of like listening to The Doors. They didn't mention how those super strong feet can pry up chicken pop doors, and how they they eat the heads off of your chickens, just the heads. Super happy dance though, the second batch of eggs showed up in PERFECT shape! They weren't packed the way you described. He had just taken each egg, wrapped them in toilet paper, put them back into an egg carton. The filled egg carton was wrapped in bubble wrap. Two egg cartons, (18 egg size) both done the same way, stacked up, surrounded by packing peanuts and in a flat rate box. The box had even been punctured. I had ordered two dozen, he sent three. I am SO happy!

YOU GUYS!!!!!

I figured out how to stack in the Sportsman!!! I just leveled up in egg tetris!!!!

It involves Scotch tape...does it still count?? I just had to get that last dozen in there...
