~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

I now officially have 4 broodies, all in the past 4 days. I have 2 Bantam hens(both first time broodies) sharing a nest of 17 eggs

. I just moved them tonight because the other hens kepp laying eggs on top of the or around them lol. They are now in a dog crate inside of their run. They didn't like it but they settle on the eggs finally.

I also have a broody Cochin sitting on 9 eggs I thought about giving her a few more but she had a hard time handling a large clutch last time.

And I have a broody turkey hen on my guess is 16-18 eggs though I have yet to look under her.

I also have a missing duck

I am really hoping she is broody on a secret nest somewhere and didn't get taken because my drake is now all alone. I feel so bad for my poor Dark Wing Duck.

Any sign of feathers???? IF not, she is likely hiding out with a few eggs.

We had suspicions on the one duck hen when she did not show upfor nighly lock up for 2 nights, yet I saw her during the day. Found her nest and it had 5-6 eggs but no feathers, by the next day, well feathered nest. Though I still see her 2x a day off playing in the water.

Hopefully your girl is hiding and you will find her over the next couple days.

I haven't candled any of my turkey eggs-- I guess tonight would be good. We are at 2 weeks right?? I'm having trouble keeping track of time with the Easter HAL on top of this one. lol

I haven't seen her in about 3 days. The drake calls for her occasionally. I havent seen any feathers and I didn't see any feathers where they sleep, which unfortunately is no longer their coop or pen. They vetoed that a few weeks ago. I was thinking possibly broody because she stopped laying eggs in her coop and started going elsewhere. the last few days before she went missing she spent more time each day gone while laying her eggs like from 1 hour and over a period of a few day was gone for up to about 5 hours until the next day she was just gone.

I'll keep my blood rings in. Thanks! My incubator wouldn't get up to temp today. I might be out. It dropped to 86 and wasn't heating up. We moved the whole stinking contraption next to a heater so that it's getting heat all over but I'm afraid it's too late. :(

Good luck---  We love ducks here for their easy care.  Great foragers-- I forget to put food out for  them as they are always off  getting grub for themselves. FOrtunately they can get pellets from amny of the chicken feeding stations if they really want. lol

What kinds of ducks do you have-- any pics??

Yes, these are some of my ducks. I also have two mallard drakes that mounted these two female ducks during the weeks I was collecting eggs for incubation. Do you think they will hatch?

id say put a ligt bulb in it but you hav to be caruful of the wattage or it will get too hot i find that 7-20watt bulbs do the best

Candled the chicken eggs tonight. 2 blood rings, a couple of saddle shaped air sacks, but I left all 45 in. Add the 6 duck and 5 turkey eggs under the goose thigs are going good.
