THat is a VERY nice Mother's Day present!

Add a turkey yo my final count. I took the unhatched eggs and put them in the incubator. I couldn't see in them when I candled. I really figures they were dead, but left them in. Nice surprise.
What a nice surprize!!!

Final count = 4 turkeys!!

MY WORST HATCH EVER!!! DUe to lack of drying despite dry hatching, and temp a tad too high so started pipping 2 days early. Lot of dead in shell, pipped and died, one zipped and died, all resuced had leg problems.

Left with 4 healthy poults!

Hugs and congrats!

Thanks!!

I need to finish cleaning the LG because I have EE peeping in the incubator. . . . . when those eggs are out, that leaves room for more turkey eggs!!!!

I have decided to not keep any mixed breed stock-- if I want faster growing turkeys I can always order the BBW or BBB.

THis is my last year with sweetgrass. THe BR stay, and I"m on the fence about the AUburns. THe auburns disappear into the dead leaves left from last fall-- a remarkable brown but not a chocolate. I have one male left who lives with have bred hens. THese are rare.

Lunch--- marans eggs, scrambled with butter, scallion, a few real olives from the deli, 2 oz feta, and thyme. The Italien version!! Oops sould have added a splash of OO.

You must be buying the wrong kind! Olive oil is amazing in small amounts, if you buy the good stuff. I use the silly Walmart brand for my pans when cooking, but anything like salads or purees gets the good stuff from the glass bottle. Still sounds better than the cinnamon rolls my kids wanted for breakfast this morning. It's too early for such sweet stuff but they love it!

ETA: I just re-read that you're getting rid of your sweetgrass! Was there something specific that you didn't like?

It is if it has already down the hatch--- and please don't suggest eating a spoon ful of it, please, please don't-- that stuff is yukky. I use only because it is good for me and hide in my eggs and salad. lol
lol I used to gargle olive oil when I was in honors choir. Stretches out vocal cords. But I agree yuck

THey are lovely-- but I have decided that I like free ranging my birds and keeping all the varieties separate to sell eggs is a big head ache. I have acres and acres and all the turkeys like to congregate at my front door where I zip in and out. Nosey busy bodies that like to follow us around, lol. I started with the BR and have more invested in them, including 2 toms that are my babies and not going anywhere. I'm trying to convince myself to let the Auburn go too . . . and the 2 narri boys. They stay togther as they are buds.

ANy one looking for 2 narri toms??
