Thirsty hen

5 months old has laid twice but none the last three days. This morning noticed very thirsty, eating, preening and moving around like normal but drinking a lot of water. When I picked her up a clear liquid fell from beneath her, like a short stream. Her crop feels like water and small amount of feed but not a large crop. We’ve been feeding regular feed but adding a tray of vegetables. Worried about her. Any feedback would be welcomed.

Perhaps cut back on the vegetables, they can interrupt proper crop function and bring lots of water to the mix.

I hope others will chime in that may have a good idea. The only time my chicken did that was when her crop was impacted . There are articles on here about it. I will try to find them and link to you. Does her crop feel like a water balloon?

That is what was wrong with mine that caused her to spit up water. There are probably other reasons too it can happen. This is just one I’m sure.

I’m sorry you did say that but I missed it. Since she is eating and drinking okay and has energy maybe just keep an eye on her. If her crop is squishy and not empty in the morning you might have to treat her for the sour crop. I had to do that first before doing treatment for impacted crop.
