This Can't Be Real...

Pics
Ok, so a really nice soft fine bristled toothbrush to comb through the feathers. Good. Dentists have been switching to soft bristled brushes because they finally figured out that stiff bristles are actually not very good at cleaning/bad for the gums, so I've got lots in the drawer now. Do you also use a toothbrush to fluff after you've dried them?

Oh, no. Princess Poof is a female. I was talking about Zoltan.

That's a nice little flock. It would be hard to manage a ton of show birds.

Do you have any pics of your quail? I'd love to see them. They're little, aren't they? (Do you have a picture portoflio in general? I'd like to see more of your lovely birds.

Does your Cuckoo live alone then? Or in the house with you or something?

Thank you. I got her around Christmas time, so it seemed appropriate. My last hamster I got around Thanksgiving. Her name was Butternut.

That's really cool. I hope he goes on being adorable. Cutest little face. >.< I can't hardly stand it.

Ok, low heat. How long should I expect to spend blow drying her? I feel like it will take a while. Like an hour?

Ah that's great you've got loads! Yes use a toothbrush during washing, when putting on the soap. Then use a dry soft baby brush after the bird it dry to fluff up :)

Oh right haha oops! I thought you mean your princess was male, guess it would have been a funny name though :gig

If you do wash them you'll have to post some photos! It usually takes me around 30 mins to get my Silkies dry, it can depend on the general room temp too which can make it faster.

My cuckoo Silkie (Audrey) is housed with my mams flock. She's with the Brahmas and Light Sussex etc. She's just gone broody so we may get some eggs for under her.

I do have a art site page thing I made for my photography. It has some of my birds on I could link you if you wanted to have a look.

Here are my two Quail. They're Coturnix so they're bigger than the button Quails. I hatched 6 of their chicks so they are here too:

I know we use different brands of whitening shampoo, so no worries if you're not sure, but the one I bought is concentrated and says to add 2 - 4 cap-fulls to 2 gallons of water. In your instructions you have some mixed in the water, but then apply it directly to the toothbrush as well and brush it into the feathers. Do you think I should add like half a capful to the water? I'm tempted to just brush the full strength stuff through, but I don't know the reason for diluting it. All I need is to like burn her or something. Is it safe do you think? This is the shampoo I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000H5XRX0/?tag=backy-20

Yeah, Princess as a male would be funny. If it helps at all, I have a RIR cockerel named Reba. (We need a facepalm emoji on this site)
He was supposed to be a sexed pullet.:barnie

I will take some pictures. Luckily my phone fits in a ziplock bag, lol.

Ah, so Audry gets on better with the bigger girls. It would be cool if she hatched out some little babies. Has she ever raised chicks before?

I would love to see your art site. Feel free to shoot me a PM.

Aw, the quails are cuties. And look at all those babies. Are you gonna keep them all or do you have homes lined up? I don't really know much about quail. Do males together usually fight like with roosters?

Hm well the shampoo I use isn't blue it has sort of a pearlescent look to it. I think the dilution directions are so that it lasts longer. I don't think it will causing burning to her. If anything, it may cause it to colour her feathers blue if you use it without diluting it. Although, I'm not 100% sure!

Do you have an old washing bottle or even just a drink so bottle? I'd put some in there and premix with water ready for use just to be safe. If it was me, I'd just put a cap full in, fill the bottle with water and shake, ready to go!

Haha those famous words 'supposed to be a sexed pullet' :lau at least he's still got a pretty name!

Yes Audrey likes the bigger chickens for some reason, she's more feisty. She's never sat or hatched eggs before but I think she'd do fine! I do have PomPom who came second in the show sitting on 5 eggs now. She was a determined broody so she got what she wanted in the end.

I'll send you a PM later on and you are free to look through my photos. It's still I work in progress but I'm getting there! :)

The Quails have already gone to a loving home as pets. They called one Toe Nail...

They were older than in the photo, all fully feathered little white fluff balls!

Yes males do fight, even worse than roosters in my opinion. They do a kind of slow torture of one another. Picking away at the back of other males heads and end up scalping them.
Some do get along but it's always safe to just keep one male or non at all :)
