I've got 3 ducks (i had 6 but a fox had came so) 2 muscovies and 1 mallard, my favorite duck is bella, my 6 month old muscovy hen, she has survived 2 sprained legs, bumblefoot, almost choked to death, neck almost ripped out by a fox (you were able to see the neck!) and a broken wing plus an attack by her fellow duck buds who ripped every last feather off her and made her bleed, pretty bad, she is surprisingly still alive and doing better than ever. She just won't give up, she is a fighter and survived multiple attacks in just her short 6 months of life, i love this duck and she is the spunkiest little thing you could ever meet, i would love hearing all of your stories of your ducks/chickens.

Bella is quite the survivor!! She may have more lives than a cat!

My survivor is Honey, a Buff Orpington who watched from the highest roost while a mink slaughtered her all her coop mates. She has had bumblefoot twice now and is the undisputed chicken queen here. I almost think she must regale the others with stories of how brave and smart she is -- while stealing their food and pecking at their heads.

Spunky, however, is the best word to describe Gabby, a little Cochin Bantam frizzle. She is a fierce little red hen who will challenge chickens, ducks and once in a while geese if they are eating something she thinks would be better suited to her. Named for her endless conversation, she actually sounds depressed -- like Eeyore -- when she talks. It's so funny that I encourage her to chat with me just so I can listen to a "sad" chicken.

Poor thing! She is a survivor in every sense of the word.
