This had to hurt...

One of our blue orp hens also tends to lay larger eggs than the other hens, but no where near the size of that one! WOW, what a shocker that is!!! I'd be interested to see some pics of the insides once you crack it open. I also bet it has another egg inside!
 
Funny, I just last night posted a similar pic in the First Egg thread.

I know what you mean... you can hear the blood curdling screech all the way from the barn. Bet your poor girl was like mine, walking bow-legged for a week. Oh, and it was just a single yolk! Practically made an omelet all on it's own.

I have a hen that lays eggs like regularly, several double yolk eggs. I guess she is used to it. I had a leghorn lay one like that the other day and it was all blood on the shell, must have really hurt. Let us know if it becomes common for her to lay those.
 
haven't cracked that one yet. but it is common for her to lay eggs close to that size, just a bit smaller. all others are regular large size
