This heat is too ridiculous...

Same here, I love the Texas heat but this year the humidity is killing me.

I keep hearing over and over that people, including older people, are experiencing weather that they have never experienced before. It seems like there are so many extremes all over! And it's not just once in a while or just 'here and there', but everywhere and becoming longterm. Strange and kinda scary.

Piecemaker is it that the humidity is heavier or age? When I was pregnant with my now 20 year old I worked out side all day every day doing heavy lifting, and chain sawing right up till 3 weeks before he was born. I was off the coast a little more but the humidity was still bad. Now I cannot stand it. I try to get everything done outside before 10 am or it waits till dusk.
Not meaning to make a comment on your are here though just mine.

Hello....... How many of us are spending the afternoons on BYC to pass the time because it's too hot to be outside??I just took frozen water bottles to the bunnies brought two dogs inside with me and turned the yard dog loose to go find a cool spot at least a cooler spot. Not fit for man or beast and no predicted relief in sight. Like I'm saying something you all didn't know all ready .....everyone becareful drink lots of liquids preferable water. This too will pass ....just not fast enough. We'll be talking about the cold and snow before long........only right now we could appreciate the cold...

It's 102 here with a 110 or above heat index. My chickens have been in the basement for the last two days and nights. The heat warning is not expected to let up until Thursday and the heat index is 115 at it's warmest. My girls have been "free ranging" downstairs through out the day. I have 2 xl dog kennels with roosts inside when I'm not down there watching them. I immediately pick up poo and spray lysol on the cement floor. I tried putting plastic down, but they avoid it at all costs. They are very happy in the kennels and I don't hear any loud peeping. I clean the kennels every 3-4 hours and it's loaded with pine chips. I'm not taking any chances with our girls. They love the treats I give them too.

90 degrees and humid here. A visiting friend from Texas has been complaining about how humid it is here. Makes me wish I had air conditioning (or at least a few more fans)

I feel your pain. 102 real temperature in my part of Kansas right now. Humidity makes it seem much worse. Little or no wind...worse still. Chickens are doing okay - giving them fresh water mutiple times during the day and toward dusk I run the hose - they seem to love standing in puddles of cold water. For me the toughest part of the summer hasn't been that it's hot and humid - heck, this is Kansas - it's supposed to be that way in July. But it has just been the day after day after day of it that is just really kicking my tail. Hang in there, everyone...September will be here soon!

Cape cod weather is warm, not rainy often, barley humid. :) it was about 80 today, no humidity, sunny.

later in the week it might even reach 90! O: that's HUGE for us

its raining right now though, it rains maybe once every 1-2 weeks. I would die if it ever got above 95. I'm not really a heat person.

I would be blessed to have that for a day. We haven't had a break from 105*+ heat indexes for more than 10 days. It's going for another week at least. I'm struggling to keep it below 85* inside because the AC can't keep up now.

Lord, please allow us a move from the weather pattern soon- we need it before everyone starts getting murderous. Amen.
