Hello and welcome to BYC.
What kind of housing do you provide your ducks with? Do you lock them up in a secure coop at sunset every night? Was their coop broken into?
Hello, I'm so sorry for your loss. You must be devastated, I know I would be. I wish I knew how to help but I don't have any idea. My heart goes out to you.
Hello! This is the second time I have heard this recently. I will see if I can find the thread and share it with you. I wish you were joining under better circumstances, but I am glad you found the site! I would be heartbroken, too.
Thanks for joining and welcome to BackYard Chickens!
I went out to the yard once only to find that pretty much all my ducks were gone! Within a few hours, one neighbour was herding a bunch of them back from her place across the road, another neighbour about a half kilometer away drove over to ask if I was missing a duck which I promptly went and fetched, another bunch were found huddled in the woods, and one was found stuck in the swamp the next day and I had to go fetch her. Very few came back on their own, I had to find them.
I had chickens in trees for days.
A fox had gone after them and they all scattered in every direction.
I don't think I lost any (that time).
Keep looking, they may surprise you. And keep *listening*. That's how I found the one in the swampy area and those in the woods.
Welcome to BYC, I hope to hear better news from you.
Hello and welcome. I'm sorry you lost your entire flock of ducks; that is heartbreaking. It doesn't sound like you have external cameras that might have caught activity. Happy to hear you have at least one that returned. I can't imagine losing an entire flock at once. I can't offer any suggestions as what might have happened. I'm hoping you can figure that part out so future deterrence measures can be taken. Sending hugs of sympathy.
I recommend you build a secure pen for the remaining duck if you have time and resources because if a predator got your others they'll be back for this last one. I'm sorry for your loss but hope they return.
