This is An SOS

She was acting completely normal this morning. She went out with the others and when she walked past me I noticed this. I have 5 girls including her.
That looks pretty unpleasant. Does she hold her head up when on the ground? How many females do you have? Is she eating/drinking like normal basically?

That is so strange. Well now to get her healed. Ducks are amazing at healing.
Its incredibly strange. I posted on a group I'm on and everyone is insisting it's a mating injury. Do you think it would be safe to put her with the other girls and put my two males up till winter?

And it could be but I've seen some pretty bad eyes from mating but never saw where a drake took out the eye. Have you noticed any of the others picking on her? Drakes and ducks will gang up and start pecking if one drake has the other held down for mating.

I'd try putting her in with the females and watch closely because even females will go through the mating ritual and can injure an already bad injury. Yes def put up the drakes.

My avian vet told me that sometimes the eye withdraws into the head when there is an injury to that area, so I would wait and see. I thought my duck’s eye was gone after a raccoon attack, but it is still there and has healed completely. I think she has sight, too.

The only other thing I have to add is that protecting your girl from the others until healing is well underway has been important and that fly strike is always a concern when there is an open wound.

@casportpony you don't think she should get the Terramycin?
If the eye is gone, I don't think it matters if it's Terramycin eye ointment (Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride and Polymyxin B) or Neosporin (bacitracin, neomycin, and polymyxin B). :(

I administered this this morning. I can't tell if there's no eye as another commenter has me second guessing myself that it could have withdrawn into the head. I did saltwater flush and some gunk came out. But there's still a lot there. I'm gonna go with the terramycin in hopes that there's an eye to rescue.

I just really haven't seen any bad behavior from any of the ducks. I'm separating the two drakes and looking into rehoming. I'm 37 weeks pregnant and have been crying my eyes out all morning. I'm just so upset over this and I've only ever had issues with drakes I just want to get back to enjoying my girls.
