Years ago when I lived in Atlanta,Georgia, I took a gun class. Of course I grew up in the country and was raised up knowing how to use one.
I dont think they should be the begin and end all of every problem, but if you know about them, they can be a plus.

I think you should maybe try to make it look like there is a man around the house. Borrow a man if you can. lol Seriously. Leave some man things out. Work boots, sports stuff, auto engine parts (junk car in process of being worked on), a mans' truck with man stuff in it. get a guy you know to randomly appear in house & yard with & without truck. (so he won't think, oh truck is gone so guy must not be home) It probably won't compeltey get rid of guy, just get him to back off. You may have to keep up a pretense like this for some time.

Sorry you're having to go through this!

Here's my two cents:

1. get a couple of game cams, as others have suggested. You can get them pretty cheaply at Walmart these days.
2. put up a couple of big signs: "Smile! You're being photographed!"
3. if you get pics of him, take them to the cops.

People who are up to no good HATE having their pictures taken.

I'd be showing up at the door with a shotgun next time he comes in the yard. Not that I'd use it or point it at him, but just let him know that I have a gun and know how to use it. But that's just me. Of course, I'd let the other dogs out first and he'd have a hard time staying in the yard after that.

Log it, photograph it, video... all been said, but good advice. When there are children involved, it should be first priority with the authorities.

Be safe...

fancbrd4meo2, there are quite a few guy things around here because of my fiance and sons. Sons are unpredicatable about showing up but all of my older children (four) have keys. Fiance tries to get up here often from Chicago but works very long days so doesnt as much as we both would like.
The last time it was HE who confronted the guy (fiance can be awfully scary, another big guy), so its triply worriesome that the idiot has been so persistent. Almost, if not, obsessive.

But then reading over this entire thread, it shouldnt surprise me. Probably he is only the type that might stop if arrested or beat within a inch of his life.(Which all of the men in the family are lining up to do,lol)
I MIGHT be getting an older Blackmouth Cur pup from a woman who raises them. The bloodline she works with is known for being protective. Though maybe Max doesnt need back up,lol. Something I am thinking about.
amazondoc and Mahonri, my game cam is being returned to me tomorrow (hope it still works!) And I am doing my best to get a picture though I only have the cell phone camera. Would a game cam take pics in the dark as well? Because that is the biggest problem I can see in getting a pic. We have seen him as early as 2 pm but its usually dark before he shows up.
Tori, my daughter IS my first priority in this. Because of the past incident I am believing she is the target. Nothing upsets me more than that.
Edited for typos.

I think that depends on the specific camera. Many, if not most, will.

MagsC we have two Black Mouth Curs and they are very protective, the female in particular. The male is mostly noise, but I don't doubt the female would bite if necessary. They have a very good sense of who belongs and who does not.

That actually is not a bad idea. There was a redneck "joke" that went around a few years ago about just this type of warning. . .a size 12 work boots, and a HUGE log chain with a collar on the end of it and a big dog bowl and other things of this nature . . .it was really funny at the time, but after reading this I don't see it as quite so funny.

My MIL keeps one of my DH's old hats in the rear window of her car, and a pair of his boots inside, so that people don't think she is travelling alone.
