This is Just an FYI... GROSS GRAPHIC PICTURE ALERT!!!!!!

It just now occurred to me that this did happen a couple years ago to one of my eggs.

I sell most of my eggs, and a person who buys them quite regularly reported that she had cracked open an egg and found the contents were completely blood-red just as the photo on this thread shows. Since she didn't save the egg and shell, I have no way of knowing which hen might have laid it.

The main thing, though, is that this has never recurred (to my knowledge) and all my layers have been healthy and normal ever since. Whatever causes this phenomenon appears to be benign, if yucky.

Panda's egg today was normal, though her eggs this year have been smaller than her usual larger light olive green golf ball shaped ones. I cracked open one of hers from a couple of days ago and it also was completely fine inside. So, yeah, yucky but just a nasty glitch.

You had me at "GROSS GRAPHIC PICTURE ALERT"--that totally piqued my curiosity and I just had to see what it was haha
