I shot this short video for a friend and thought I'd share it here. These are my Runners. All the white/silver birds, and the handsome multi-colored male, are offspring of the old blue duck sitting on the left side in the video. The chocolates are new this year, from Metzer. I want to rehome the chocolate males but they are so beautiful it's hard to even think of parting with them.

Lovely! How many chocolate males do you have and what is your overall sex ratio?
I have three, possibly four, chocolate males and two of the others, so five males for sure. There are eleven, possibly twelve, females. They are all getting along well now, but I think there is a danger that once the hormones kick in, when a female is pulled down by one male the others will pounce on her, too!

I'm thinking you will have to get a few more females in the Spring as drake hormones surge. Less of an overmating problem [although there could be if only a few females are preferred] but more of a drake fighting problem, perhaps

Can't have too many ducks myself, but my husband not so much.
I don't think I can find any adult females around here and would need to go with ducklings again which I am leery of doing. I ordered females earlier this year and Metzer sent a bunch of males instead. They were more careful to give me females for the replacements, but I don't want to go through that again.
Drake fighting isn't really troubling. They just chase and push each other until one gives up. I was lucky to rehome three drakes last year but won't count on that happening again.
