i think the best way would be to offer tempting treats like meal worms in your hand. When they start eating or see you coming and know there’s yummy things coming say the word you want to use for them to come (or whistle or whatever). It might take time but I think the earlier you start the easier you will see results.Ok!!! Also how do I train my cotournix quail to come una whistle or call... I did see a friend of mine with a rooster that he called “tico” and every time he yelled out tico the rooster came.... whenever he said tico grita(Yell) he would roo... I want to see if any of you guys have had any experience with cotournix quail training![]()
I’m waiting for 15 button quail to hatch they are already on lockdown today... lockdown starts at day 13 right? If it is then yeah.... I upped the humidity 2x and I’m waiting... and also for their feed I got real small.... but it aparantly is still to big for them.... so I bought a miniature pestle and mortar to smash their food into fine dust.... the grit I placed on top hoping they swallow those to see it if helps with digestion... I don’t have sand so I bought calcium stones.... used for grit and scratch and digest super slowly giving off god calcium for their bones!!!Love the babies! Are you giving them grit with those mealworms? I give my chicks sand with their treats, but I think regular chick grit is fine too.
Are you waiting on any more to hatch?
My understanding is that it can affect any bird. Ventilate well if you cook with teflon.Teflon Toxicity (PTFE Toxicosis) can dis affect button quails and cotournix? Help pls if you love quails!!!
Yeah I’m grinding small amounts and adding big pieces in the mix.... last night they didn’t even touch the big pieces, today I did the same and the big pieces were gone.... I’m guessing they’ve grown some and are now big enough to eat certain big ones.... I’ll keep doing this diminishing the powder little by tittle... I’m also adding more vitamin to their water... hoping it helps the limping chick a bit.... she uses her leg well! It just limps a bit due to the cut she had... I’m gonna treat her wellMy understanding is that it can affect any bird. Ventilate well if you cook with teflon.
Rather than grinding feed, if you get an old colander you can filter out the little pieces. Bigger birds prefer the bigger pieces, so it works well.
