Definitely NOT a barred cochin.

If he does have a single comb, the closest thing I can think of would be crele old english game bantam. I don't know if they are available through the hatcheries though.

My Barred Cochin chicks are all black with a yellow butt, a spot of yellow on the back of their heads, yellow spot on their throat, and the ends of their wings have a spot of yellow.



I saw this and maybe it will grow up to look like this one. Maybe a tab bit of difference in hues, but pretty similar. Click link and scroll to 2nd post.

Looks like a mix. The bird looks to have barring but also looks to have lacing in the breast.

Maybe it looks different now that the comb has grown some, but it sure looks more like a game than a cochin to me! Ideal may be a hatchery, but most of the cochins I've seen from them have good, stocky body types ... this bird looks a bit too upright and trim.

I took another look at the pic and I'd almost bet it's a game mix. Notice how low it's carrying its wings and how forward the neck posture is. It's not pure game - maybe has cochin crossed in, looking at the tail set - but it's definitely got game in it. Maybe oeg and cochin?
