By pure coincidence, discovered there ARE mottled orpingtons. Link to a young couple and they look just like yours, down to the white legs.

OK. So now he's starting to look like a mottled Orpington! I think he's a mottled Orpington because the leg color matches better.

Me too, but exchequers carry the yellow leg gene.
