Well, I just sent one of my 7-week-old roos to a new home, and even though I know it's going to be a great home (with an older lady who has a hen and a duck), it broke my heart to see him go [IMG]

    Does it ever get easier?

Oh gosh, I am sorry it upset you so much. [IMG]

I must just be a tough old hen. I am very fond of my chickens, and hate it when one dies, but I do not consider them pets like I do my dogs and cats. As a result, I am delighted when I can find a roo a good home!

Better sooner than later. I had to get rid of my extra roosters, but they were 4-6 months old (don't remember exactly). My only regret is if I kept the right ones.

Quote:Yeah, I'm glad he got a great home. I guess, with these being my first chicks, I just let myself get too attached. I'm sure he'll be fine [IMG]

Of course I also have an egg pipping at the moment and the little one is working very hard to get out, so that helps a lot [IMG]
