You're the best. If she's kidnapped you and has a duck to your head, type the word "pineapple" and I'll know it's not safe.I'll put a lookout for her and let ya know if it's safe!
Good idea!Maybe parachute in to avoid the driveway incident?
Not such a good idea! No, that wouldn't work, my anti aircraft surveillance would spot her and shoot'er down!![]()
I wouldn't put it past her, that sneak. And if it didn't Kiki might send them in via drones.

Yes, I would absolutely take them if I saw them, which is why I'm hopping on a one way flight to Ireland before they hatch.Duck tape for the little bitty bills.

Duck people! Please tell this first time mom what you do with your ducklings to keep them happy and make your lives easier. I've hatched ducklings before, but they were for a friend, so I didn't raise them. I know the basics regarding housing and feeding them and swim time etc, but any tips and tricks and absolutely-do-NOT-do's would be appreciated![]()
Great info, thanks! That's all I've got for now
- Make sure your brooder has actual walls, not wire/fencing/mesh, ducklings slosh water and projectile poop liquid and it will end up where you don't want it.
- Did you know a drop of water on a hot light bulb will cause it to explode/shatter? I learned this cleaning my bathroom, however this is extremely important to realize if using a heat light for your duckling brooder, ducklings shake off water and splash in water, you want to be sure these splashes cannot hit your bulb or if they can that the broken bulb cannot land in the brooder. I covered my brooder with a metal screen, the sort you would have in a window, very fine holes, the water wouldn't really get through and if something happened to the bulb, the glass shards wouldn't fall through. You can get window screen on a roll at the hardware store cheap, just be sure you get the metal kind and not the plastic kind. I also use it to cover openings on my coop to keep rodents out.
- Make a no-mess waterer from your recycling. It cuts back on the mess, but definitely does not eliminate it entirely.
- Swim time or outdoor time is a great time for you to deep clean/fully change the bedding in the brooder.
- Make sure the brooder is in a separate closed room of the house. A garage or barn would be better. They seriously stink. I had only 2 ducklings in the house in a closed off spare room and changed bedding daily and the whole house would stink.
- If they don't have a ton of room, time outside where they can use their legs more will help with strengthening and preventing leg issues.
- Their little toenails are EXTREMELY sharp. Wear long sleeves when handling them. They will kick in protest and you will have scars. Also, a wound caused by a dirty duckling in a brooder is begging for infection.
- I'm not sure if you compost or garden, but duck waste bedding and water is not "hot" like chicken waste is and can safely go straight on your plants if you want. So mucky drinking and swimming water goes to watering my garden daily in the summer.
- Swimming water should be a depth that they can also stand in it.
