I just realized almost everything on that list boils down to DUCKLINGS ARE FILTHY ANIMALS!
They poop in their food. They poop in their water. They poop on their human. They poop on each other.
They poop when excited. They poop when agitated. They poop when... ok that's enough.
Yep, they're filthy.![]()
I'm going to visit The Man today.
Leghorns are great layers, but I found them to be very skittish. I had a white one, two brown and two silver. The silver and brown ones were sort-of friendly, but I couldn't go near the white one. They laid lovely, big eggs.
Yeah, I've found that I have to raise them myself or they're absolute nutters. If I do, though, they're almost annoyingly friendly if allowed to approach on their own terms. (I have Whites.) One bird decided to investigate while I was painting and got turned partially red by accident! She was a funny bird.
If you're going to have them inside for any length of time, bedding them on sand and sifting it daily will save your sanity and keep you from spending fifty bucks on shavings. Moving them outside ASAP into a tractor type pen is best of all. Makes the whole thing so much more fun and less stinky! Also, be careful with the type of waterers made of a milk jug. Ducklings can fit through surprisingly small holes. I had to cut one of mine out because she couldn't fit through the hole again.
I'm going to move somewhere else where you can't find me.
@BantyChooks fly via Ireland. We'll take care of you![]()
Yes, I would absolutely take them if I saw them, which is why I'm hopping on a one way flight to Ireland before they hatch.
Oh boy... Guess I'd better stock up on wet wipes and toilet rolls and kitchen rolls and... shower gel? They poop in their food. They poop in their water. They poop on their human. They poop on each other.
