I may not be of much help but...there used to be (and may still be) an exotic bird breeder on the south side of Austin that also rescued birds. I don't know if they did domestic fowl or just exotics and can not recall their name. They had a sort of exotic bird "zoo" that you could tour and were located just up a little hill road off of Ben White Blvd.

Also, you might try SARA. they are an animal rescue group located just outside Sequine and I am pretty sure they would take them. However, they probably don't have the means to come get them. But you might give them a call ((830) 401-0280 ) they may have volunteers in your area that could assist in their capture and move them to SARA. SARA's website is http://sarasanctuary.org/

There is also a bird rescue somewhere around San Marcos, again I don't recall their name or if they only deal with wild birds but you should be able to get some information about them by calling the Animal Shelter in Austin.

Sorry I could not be of more help. If I could I would come get them myself but that would be nearly impossible to do and may actually violate some law if they are now in a public park.

I don't want them to die but my husband specifically told me he does not want them brought home. He has a good reason since my top priority is the safely of my kids, pets and flock.

I understand, you're right, I just...they're so close to death already and my heart is absolutely broken thinking about how much they're suffering...you're in Austin, right? I used to work for Blizzard and have many friends in that area, I'm gonna see if any of them can possibly help.

I'm actually in Round Rock and they are at Memorial Park. I do appreciate any help and I feel horrible for them. Unfortunately they are not the only ducks I have seen released into a creek. Usually they come out of the woodwork when we are fishing but these guys are by far in the worse shape I have seen.

Try your local animal shelter or animal control. Maybe you could even contact a local conservation office. Hope you find help for those poor babies.

Have you checked with your local animal rescue? They may be the best shot these birds have at getting the veterinary care they need. I'm surprised the wildlife rescue couldn't at least give you leads on another organization(s) that could help - especially if they're contaminating their current environment with who knows what.

You'd be amazed at how unhelpful they can be. Several years ago I lived next door to a man who kept his pitbull chained in the bed of his truck 24/7, rain or shine. The local SPCA said they couldn't do anything about it. Humane Society just said to call the SPCA!

I feel so helpless, I really really wish there was SOMEthing you could do, Needless! At the very least I wish someone could end their suffering. If there's no hope of saving the little white crested, I can't bear the thought of him slowly wasting away out there, cold, sick and hungry...

It is with great sadness that I read this story .. those poor babies!

Just a thought, try ringing your local radio station and/or TV station. If they are having a 'quiet news day' they might just pick it up which will get their plight out there and you may be surprised how many people 'come out of the woodwork' to help!
