It looks just like the red shouldered hawks that live across the street from me. They do and will kill your chickens. We are netted and they got between seams and got one. I use several different methods of protection now including netting, cds and a stuffed coyote where they free range. The neighbors have peacocks that free range in our yard and I think that really helps keep the hawks away.
