Its true they have to have acalf first, I thought you would know that. did you take the dixie challenge?

Its funny to hear kids say these things, but when Wifes brownie troop(8-10yo) came to house, most had never seen a chicken let alone hold one. The bad part is the parents I had one argue with me that I would have to remove the rooster before they started laying eggs because people have died from eating fertilized eggs. My grandmother did when she was in her 90's, but it was probably more from the fact that she ate 1/2 lb of bacon with it each morning too, or maybe it was just old age. NO MUST have been those fertilized eggs that did it.

Oh no I did know that, I was laughing because she didn't know. Other mammals are just like people, we can't have milk without having a baby.

Some people make me laugh ao hard and they don't even try to.

Not to be argumentative, but would it freak you out to know that people CAN make milk without having a baby, and that even men have lactated under starvation conditions?

Just had to say that, sorry.

But I do know that, generally (in fact almost ALWAYS) ... milk comes after the baby. And only to the mom.

I'm sure that's a VERY rare thing though. Normally mammals must have a baby to produce milk. There that's better.

mdbucks,
You're avater is confusing me. I'm not used to seeing your name with a picture under it. It keeps throwing me off.

Geesh ya know. For fun I tell my daughter that chocolate milk comes from brown cows and pink milk comes from ...you guess it Pink cows.

She can find the brown ones while out for a drive, but she wonders where the Pink ones are?

Mabey I should tell her the truth? Neh she will learn for herself. She will also learn one day that a man does not live on the moon

We were out walking the dog and ran into a neighbor who asked about my chickens. She wanted to know how I would get eggs without a rooster. I replied, "Well, you're not married but you ovulate once a month."

My wife said I shouldn't have put it like that.
