I JUST hatched the last of my 5 ducks this afternoon. I, about and hour ago put 3 in the brooder, everything was fine. I walk back in just 10 minutes ago to check on them and the first duckie that hatched YESTERDAY was throwing up, what looked like the same bright green stuff that their first poop consists of. I was like what the heck would cause it to throw up bile???? So I thought maybe pasty butt, but what I found was a very small amount of the, you know, slimmy stuff that is sometimes still around them when they hatch, glued to it's vent opening! Just enough to cover the hole, so I got my scissors out and some warm water and went to work on the feathers. After the vent was cleared I set the duckie back down in the brooder, it backed up RIGHT AWAY and squirted (ALOT)!!! YEAH!! Now it's walking around with it's tail feathers in the air as if nothing ever happened! This was a first and probably not last close call with the new ducks! LOL
