This just makes me sick!

We've never known of anybody with experience in the matter who believes services exist to protect...to react after the fact, yes, perhaps, but to protect beforehand, not in any way, shape, or form.

Yea, were all really cleanup crews. Be nice if it was more like the movies though.

I guess you could say on the other hand that forestrys job falls under prevention an protection. They are the only ones that have a real prevention aspect to what they do. An they dont really "fight" fire as much is try to protect people an property from it. The wild fire training I took was a whole different kettle of fish than anything else. Still no obligation to protect but its kinda the center that the job revolves around.

No, no an no. They are investigating crime that has happened. Protection from requires ether stopping crime before it happens or using your self as a wall between crime an the public, Like taking a bullet for someone.

So when they take that drunk driver off the road so he doesn't kill you and your family that is not protecting and preventing ?
You need to get a grip on reality.

Oh that is so wrong here if the fire department fails a businesses inspection you are closed. If you are building a house in a high fire zone you must get first your plans oked by the fire department and inspected after you build.

No you need to understand the terms being used.

The DUI thing. Sure the drunk could have hit someone a mile down the road but he could have also hit someone a mile before the cop seen him. What might have happens goes both ways in time. Getting him off the road is a good thing but it is not a act of protection or prevention, it is investigating an intervening in a crime already happening.

Think of it this way. Assume I walk in to a bank with a gun on my hip an a cop seen me(normal for me). This act is not illegal so even if the cop feels it in his bones that I am going to rob the bank he has no obligation to protect the bank. In fact he really cant do anything even if he wanted to because he has no RAS. Now if I do rob the bank then after the robbery is actually taking place he can intervene. So he did not protect.

Now assume this all happens an he runs in a yells stop police. Has he now protected? No not really cause I could give up or I could start shooting people. The choice is still the BG.

Now if he decided to jump between me an the other people so I cant shoot them That would also be protecting. He can do that but he is not obligated to.

Protection is not there job. Supreme court has stated that it is not LIOs jobs to protect people from crime or injury.
