I don't mind it here. Post something off-topic, post a chicken picture as "tax". It's a nice excuse to share my photos or see other people's.
But I've just been charged chicken tax in an actual, offline, IRL bricks-and-mortar shop.
Realised when I hatched a couple of chicks at the weekend that I've run out of the 1ml oral syringes I use when weak or ill chicks need feeding. Didn't need them this time but it's better to be prepared, so I dropped into my local pharmacy as I was walking past just now. Asked for a syringe, explained why I wanted it and which ones they'd given me before. Laughter and demands to see baby chickens. I'd walked right past only the day before with a couple of three day old chicks on their way to their new home, as well.
They wouldn't take payment for the syringes but I've had to promise to bring a chick in whenever I next hatch some. Only remembered after that I had a couple of eggs in my pocket but maybe I'll take those in later to see if I can avoid racking up interest or late payment fees.
Has this happened to anyone else?
