It hatched out of a dark brown egg. It was my first hatch and I had pretty poor results so I only got two chicks from a dozen. One that was a stripey chipmunk chick and indeed looks like a welsummer in my complete novice opinion and this mystery bird. It's black with dark grey. These are from a backyard breeder from an ad on craigslist so I wasn't expecting perfect birds and it could very well be a crossbreed. Here are a couple photos of it, from just a day or two old to now at about a month old.
