Is this your first chick?

It has tried to get up twice and its leg started to shake so we took it out and dried it off a bit and got the poo off of the peachick, and turned the temp up a bit so it doesn't get too cold since it started to shake. We left the hand towel in with the chick and it is resting a little. I think it is really warn out from trying to get out of that egg.
How long does it take them to dry? I hope the feathers don't stick together...I kinda think it looks like a pied...It has a cool dark stripe down the side of its neck.

Edit: Yes this is my very first chick of any kind so I have a lot of questions!

Should we give it shugar water to help it get stronger since it is tired....It doesn't act weak just tired...I guess it is fine. Do peachicks that get helped out act tired?

Ooh and the peachick's toes are still in that clutched position...Will that fix itself after today or once it dries off should we make slippers for it? My Grandma probably couldn't do that so we would have to do that today...

We are all here to help!

It takes a couple of hours to dry off. When my chicks hatch they are usually really worn out from coming out of the egg so they just lay around. After a few hours they are moving around and climbing over all the other eggs. They will act tired just because it was probably really stressful for them trying to get out. The toes should straighten on their own.

Hope that helps a little!

He is tired out from taking so long getting out of the egg. He was turn wrong in the egg and I don't think he would have made it out without help. It will take a little while for it to dry off and before it can get up but it looks like it is going to be alright. I know you are going out of town in a little while and I know you want to stay home with your new peachick. It can do without food or water for a day but it might need someone to teach it to eat and drink. Congratulations on the new chick.

Thanks for reminding me about that, I will have to tell my friends to make sure the chick knows how to eat and drink. We have a little dish with marbles we will use for water, hopefully the chick will peck at the marbles.

Okay we are back from our trip! The peachick did great while we were gone...

We dropped it off and it was still not totally dry so I was so happy to get it today after four days of being gone to find it all fluffy and already flapping a bit. Right now it is sleeping after we played with it. I was afraid it would not remember me but it cries when I leave so I am sure it still likes me! My grandma's maid taught it how to eat and drink and my friends were good playmates for it and sent us pictures and videos while we were gone. When we dropped it off its feet were curled and so I kept holding it making it straighten its feet to hold on to my finger. One straightened quickly the other wasn't straight when we left and by the next day when we called my grandma said its feet were perfect. I think this peachick is from Damsel and Dragon, my pied pair. The peachick has a lot of white on its wings and maybe a spot on top of its head. We have to keep our minature poodle away from it because she tried to bite it when we were trying to introduce them and even though we kept saying for her to be gentle she didn't listen. When this peachick gets older it might end up beating up our dog...Just like what our peahen Pip does.

It doesn't have a name yet, mainly because I am waiting until I know if it is a male or a female but I also need to give it a really cool unique name...Maybe a Native American name.

Here is the play pen the peachick is in.
